Book #6 of the
Halo Legacy Series

"Your sister's birth father was very generous to fly us to Boston." Shiloh sat beside Jeremiah on Pierce Stratford's private jet. "Are you sure you don't mind going with me?"

"I've been thinking of going to Boston for quite some time." The clamor of memories immediately started in Jeremiah's head. He rarely allowed a thought for his former adoptive parents. Not after Bernie took him home to live with Tallie and the other boys--and one girl--they had adopted. Living in a small, rural town might not have been Jeremiah's preference. However, his new family seemed to love him and the townspeople were kind, so he pushed aside his silent fear they too would reject him and adapted to rural living as best he could.

Once again, Jeremiah pushed aside the memories and focused on Shiloh. "Boston has one of the best fire departments in the nation. Seeing how they operate will benefit our department."

"Is that the only reason you wanted to come with me?"

The hint of disappointment in Shiloh's voice made Jer smile. "Traveling is a great way to get to know someone better."

A slow smile formed on Shiloh's face. "Do you want to know me better, Jer?"

"Yeah. I do." Their gazes connected and held.
