AN EXPLOSIVE REMEMBERING

LEGACY UNDER FIRE
Book #6 of the
Halo Legacy Series

The official wedding of Deputy Dawson Browning and Marly O'Shea was planned to be the highlight of a celebration unveiling the first phase of the new buildings in Halo on October 31.

That day dawned clear and crisp. The thermometer had dipped below freezing the night before, so a shimmer of sparkling white-jeweled frost covered everything in Halo.

At noon, Shiloh joined the other women of Marly's wedding party at the O'Shea family house for a light lunch and to pamper the bride before dressing for the ceremony. The groom and his party drove to Bill and Audrey's ranch to entertain themselves with strict orders not to make any bruises that would show.

Several hours later, the wedding parties met on the outskirts of town to start the procession to the ceremony itself. The women moved from cars to horse-drawn carriages, while the men unloaded horses from trailers to ride into town.

The bride was being assisted into her private carriage when an explosion rocked the nearest horse trailer.

The wedding party froze for a moment, then weapons appeared from boots and holsters tucked under jackets as the O'Shea brothers leaped into action, calmed the frightened horses, then rode full gallop to encircle the area where the blast occurred. The rest of the men hustled the women and children into vans--maybe the least dangerous place to be when little offered safety from explosions.

…The pandemonium faded into a sepia-toned movie playing without sound in the background of Shiloh's mind as she stared at the smoke billowing toward the sky a short distance away.

…Swept up in the arms of her fireman angel once again, Jeremiah slid into the vehicle with Shiloh on his lap and slammed the door shut as Collin shoved the vehicle into gear and punched the gas.

Shiloh clung to Jeremiah, memories from the day her clinic burned as clear in her mind as the mountain air surrounding Halo.
