A PAST FULL OF MYSTERIES

LEGACY UNDER FIRE
Book #6 of the
Halo Legacy Series

Jeremiah felt immediately at home when he walked into the Boston Fire Department. The echo of his boot heels on the concrete floor. The clang of lockers as firefighters pulled out their gear to respond to the call-out crackling over the radio. The gleaming red and chrome of the fire engines with their deep-rumbling diesel engines.

As the engine pulled out into the street, sirens blaring, a relative quiet settled over the firehouse.

His grandfather had served here, and great-grandfather before him. A tradition in the Winston family. Until his first adoptive father broke tradition and became--well, Jeremiah wasn't sure exactly what Skeet Winston did for a career. They moved a lot and told Jer not to talk to cops. Ironically, he ended up in a family of blue uniforms.

As an adult looking back, so much of his years with the Winstons didn't make sense. Maybe that was the reason he couldn't let go. Too many unanswered questions. The biggest one was why did they dump him at a child welfare office? Didn't wealthy people have other options, such as boarding schools or nannies or other relatives who would have taken Jeremiah if they were tired of being parents?
