WARING HOUSE AND ITS RESIDENT GHOST

As one of the only buildings left intact when explosions destroyed most of the fictional town of Halo, Oregon, Waring House plays an important role in CHASING THE LEGACY. Here's a bit of its history:

**When they pulled into the circular drive in front of the Victorian-style house, both Pop and Layla fell silent. The sight of this house always made Layla's breath catch in her throat. A three-storied turret framed each corner, connected by ornate white trim along the roofline. A wide porch perfect for sitting wrapped around two sides of this regal lady, and a curtain fluttered in an upstairs window where the ghost of Miss Stella kept watch.

"Still beautiful," Layla whispered in awe.

Silently, Pop's gaze moved from one corner of the house to another, up and down in a zigzag pattern, as if assessing each shingle and piece of molding. "That she is."

The founder of Halo had built this majestic house as a testament of love for his wife, Constellation, who became known as Miss Stella to the townspeople. Layla's pop bought the house for his own beloved wife, who died giving birth to Layla...

...Some of the townspeople avoided the house because of its resident ghost. However, Layla and Pop considered Miss Stella one of the bonuses of this elegant old house, and welcomed her into their midst.
