That Happy Ever After is what drew me to reading and writing romance. It's what I still write in a story, though my books have morphed to contain action and mystery along with romance. :)

SHH! I'M AT STRAIGHT FROM THE LIBRARY TODAY...

I grew up in a small town and our library was...small. I was fortunate to have a family who always had books around and we went to the library a lot.

I learned books had to go back in the same condition as when I borrowed them. To this day, I don't highlight or write in books--and I own a lot of books. Some of them are well decorated with sticky tabs, but no scribbles.

**On this sunny April morning, Jenny needed the fresh air of the park. Her computer had been claiming too much of her time lately, and she ached with the confinement.

She pushed her wheelchair along the curving cement sidewalk under a canopy of trees to a place where she could look out over the water.

The hurried sound of approaching footsteps warned Jenny she wasn't alone. She turned her head and saw two men approaching.

The Wizard's fingers flew over the keyboard. She was closing in on the biological mother of her latest client. The twenty-two-year-old woman needed a kidney transplant, but the courts were slow to open her adoption records. Each day that slipped away literally ticked off the seconds of her life. 

Without a transplant, she would die.

**Thomas O'Shea revved the motorcycle's engine and sped down the black ribbon of highway unfurling in front of him. Familiar but always changing, the ocean crashed against the beach as if reaching for him. Coaxing him to quit running and see what he was missing.

He slowed, took an exit, and rode past the signs warning "private beach." Once on the hard-packed sand, he cut the engine and stared at the moon shimmering on the endless horizon.

Dismounting the bike, he took the crumpled letter out of the inside pocket of his leather jacket and smoothed the angry creases.
